Um die Möglichkeiten zu veranschaulichen, kläre ich die Begriffe Karikatur und Satire und untersuche die Wirksamkeit beider.
Im Folgenden möchte ich den Künstler George Grosz vorstellen, und darstellen, wie er in seiner Zeit, einer höchst brisanten Zeit, politisch wirksam struggle. Er erscheint mir als besonders geeignetes Beispiel für einen gesellschaftskritischen Künstler, da er in seinen satirischen Bildern nicht nur die kapitalistische Gesellschaft an den Pranger stellte, sondern auch auf andere Missstände hinwies. Ohne Angst vor Strafe und Verfolgung versuchte er die Öffentlichkeit zu erreichen, und kämpfte unbeirrt für die, in seinen Augen, „gute Sache“. Zudem möchte ich die damalige Rezeption und auch die Konsequenzen, die George Grosz´ Kunst für ihn brachte, erörtern.
